The 18th edition of the CinemAsia Film Festival begins on April 8, 2026, at the Eye Film Museum in Amsterdam. The opening film is "Becoming Human" by Cambodian director Polen Ly. This is the Dutch premiere. The festival closes on April 12 with "The Waves Will Carry Us" by director Lau Kek-Huat, who was born in Malaysia and now lives in Taiwan. Both directors will be present at the festival.
In a world where visible and invisible borders are becoming increasingly tangible, this edition of CinemAsia focuses on the theme of commons: shared ground, shared history, and shared humanity. Using cinema as a meeting place, the festival brings together perspectives from different cultures, generations, and life experiences.
Featuring films from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and more, CinemAsia is one of the largest Asian film festivals in Europe and serves as a creative platform for Asian representation and filmmaking. From blockbusters and inspiring documentaries to independent productions.
At various locations in the city
