Last chance: Museum Batavialand

This is the last weekend to experience the majestic Batavia ship at the jetty before it is taken out of the water and prepared for its new location on land. Editor's Pick: Open Air Cinema Tugela85

Let yourself be surprised at Broedplaats Tugela85’s rooftop terrace this weekend with three different secret movies, chosen by a special guest curator, airing at the outdoor cinema from Thursday to Saturday. Here’s a little spoiler: Thursday’s film is in Spanish, Friday’s Dutch (both accompanied by English subtitles), and Saturday’s film will screen in English but with Dutch subtitles. Intrigued? So are we.

Wildcard Pick: Circusbende

An eccentric mix of circus, music and non-verbal humour awaits at Erasmuspark throughout the weekend, with over 40 various performances, including Opéra pour sèche cheveux, which is also accessible to visually impaired visitors. Clowns, a physics-defying performance and object manipulation await. Not your speed? Try circus arts yourself during the Circusclub Workshops or join a game of free neighbourhood bingo.

Local Pick: Czar Peterstraat Festival

After a long stretch of road works, the much-awaited reopening of the Czaar Peter Quarter, one of the city’s cosiest streets, will take place this Sunday. The festivities will kick off with a Casa Guitarra musical procession and an official opening. Afterwards, explore everything the quarter has to offer, from wine tastings to shopping discounts, crafting workshop demonstrations, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access.

ZeeZout Festival

Curated, boutique and always welcome, Zeezout is one of Amsterdam’s smallest but most formidable festivals. From obscure disco to percussive techno, you’ll find a little slice of everything in a program that features established names and ones on the rise. This year marks 10 years, so expect it to be as seamless as ever, with homegrown names like Carista and Identified Patient, alongside international acts like Mall Grab on the roster.

Murmur Blockparty

Some devastating news this week as Murmur revealed it’ll be closing come the end of the year. So now’s the time to make the most of one of Amsterdam’s premier listening bars with a blockbuster Block Party. Have a daytime dance with €15 pre-sale tickets on offer, this one’s a great way to sendoff summer and this beloved bar (just not yet).
