Ed van der Elsken. An Eye for Amsterdam
The first exhibition, Ed van der Elsken. An Eye for Amsterdam (October 3, 2025 – March 29, 2026), focuses on the color photographs Van der Elsken took in Amsterdam in the 1970s and 1980s. In addition, the film "A Photographer Films Amsterdam " (1982), a portrait of the city and its inhabitants, will be shown continuously. This exhibition is not only a tribute to Van der Elsken's personal anniversary but also to Amsterdam's 750th anniversary and the strong bond between Amsterdam and Purmerend, thanks to the many Amsterdammers who moved to Purmerend in the post-war years.
Ed van der Elsken. Adventures on land
The second exhibition, "Ed van der Elsken: Adventures in the Country" (October 3, 2025 – February 1, 2026), highlights the color photographs Van der Elsken took in his hometown of Edam, located near Purmerend, where he lived from 1971 until his death. The film "Adventures in the Country " (1980) will also be shown continuously during this exhibition, an ode to nature and the polder landscape surrounding Van der Elsken's farm near Edam.
