Dates
Musical encounters at the Bimhuis
Orchestre Partout LAB brings together sixteen young musicians for an evening full of surprising musical encounters. Under the direction of percussionist Háshem Kabreet and pianist and composer Martin Fondse, they work on a new repertoire for two days. Half of the participants have roots in the Middle East, the other half studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory. This concert is the result of their collaboration.
Tradition and contemporary jazz
During these intensive days, musical traditions blend with contemporary jazz. Martin Fondse, winner of the Boy Edgar Prize in 2017, is known for his ability to blur the boundaries between classical music, jazz, Latin, and world music. His compositions and arrangements are humorous and narrative. Háshem Kabreet, born in Syria, has a rich foundation in Arabic and Middle Eastern music. He plays instruments such as the daf, riq, darbouka, cajón, and djembe. Together with Fondse, he guides the young musicians in this unique project.
Orchestre Partout and the Conservatory
The LABs are an initiative of Orchestre Partout, in collaboration with the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the BIMHUIS. This project offers a platform to young talent and stimulates the exchange between different musical backgrounds. Experience the energy of these talented musicians in a concert where cultures and sounds come together.
