Dates
Baroque in hidden canal gardens
This year, the Grachtenfestival brings concerts to the hidden gardens behind Amsterdam's canal houses. These gardens are rarely accessible to the public. A 17th-century law still protects them. During the festival, you open the door to a piece of hidden Amsterdam.
Recorder and harpsichord as a chamber music duo
Recorder player Annemaartje Laeven and harpsichordist Janne de Waard perform works by Diogenio Bigaglia, George Frideric Handel, Anton Heberle, and Dario Castello. Each work reveals a different side of the recorder: from Castello's free, almost improvisational style to Heberle's virtuos virtuoso Sonata Brillante . Together, they demonstrate that the recorder and harpsichord form a full-fledged chamber music duo.
Young musicians with a serious track record
Annemaartje Laeven studies at the Sweelinck Academy of the Amsterdam Conservatory. She plays instruments by recorder maker Tom de Vries. Janne de Waard graduated from the Sweelinck Academy in 2026 and previously studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory. She performed at Klassiek op het Amstelveld and at the Piano Solo Lab in Italy.
