Discover the magic of life on the water: The Houseboat Museum
Have you always wondered what it is like to live on Amsterdam's famous canals? At the Houseboat Museum, you have the unique opportunity to experience this for yourself! Step aboard the Hendrika Maria , a beautiful historic cargo ship from 1914 that has undergone a remarkable transformation.
Where heavy loads were once transported, you will now find an atmospheric, cozy living space. Let yourself be surprised by the layout: the boat is equipped with all modern conveniences and offers an astonishing amount of space and comfort. And good news for taller visitors: there is plenty of headroom on board everywhere!
An Interactive experience for the whole family
The Houseboat Museum is accessible and great fun for all ages. It is a very child-friendly location with surprising, interactive elements. Using Augmented Reality (AR), for example, you can digitally put on a traditional skipper's costume! Don't forget to capture these fun memories, as photography is allowed everywhere inside.
Discover the story in your native language
To fully immerse yourself in the history of the ship and life on the water, you will receive a free audio guide with your visit. This is included with admission and available in no fewer than 18 languages. Check this link to find out if you can find your language.
