Coming-of-age drama about the dangers of carefree adolescence

Thirteen (2003) tells the story of Tracy, played by Evan Rachel Wood. Tracy is a girl who does well in school and causes few problems. That changes when she befriends Evie, played by Nikki Reed. Evie drags Tracy into a world of sex, drugs, piercings, and petty theft. What starts as experimentation quickly escalates into something Tracy can barely control.

Director Catherine Hardwicke based the story on the experiences of 13-year-old Nikki Reed, who also wrote the script.
