From Bach to Paganini: solo music for viola
Dana Zemtsov takes you through a wide palette of solo music for viola. The recital opens with Bach's monumental Chaconne , one of the heaviest and most impressive works for a soloist. This is followed by works that each reveal a different side of the instrument: from the tempestuous energy of Fazıl Say to the folkloric sound world of Dobrinka Tabakova and the technical virtuosity of Paganini.
Recuerdos de la Alhambra on viola
A special moment in the program is Tarrega's Recuerdos de la Alhambra , originally written for classical guitar. Dana Zemtsov performs this piece on the viola, lending a surprising timbre to this familiar work. Thus, during this recital, you explore not only the boundaries of the instrument but also those of the classical repertoire.
