Arvind Ganga. Sound from all directions, a complex and ethereal multi-channel experience with electric guitar. This project is on view at 4bid Gallery, Overtoom 301 in Amsterdam.
It is a project in which the auditory and visual worlds are interwoven and constantly in dialogue with one another. The result is a deeply immersive experience, in which the visual element is an equal partner to the music and the performance space, transporting the audience to a world that can be simultaneously calm and meditative, but also intense and deeply moving.
The musical side of the project is formed by the guitar duo Gonçalo Oliveira and James A. McEwan, who unfold slowly moving instrumental landscapes of drones, post-rock atmosphere, noise-colored textures, and post-minimalist environments. They showcase the unique capabilities of their instruments in a carefully developed duo interaction.
Their sound world enters into a dialogue with the performative images of Felix Bodin, created with his self-designed visual instrument: a reflective surface that bends, disperses, or focuses digital projections into changing sculptural fields of light. His visual language is interwoven with the structure of the project, forming an immersive and captivating experience.
This performance is in honour of the release of their second album, titled Flow////State___, which will be jointly released on March 13 by the labels Wormhole World (UK) and Geertruida (NL). The album will be available for purchase during the concert on CD, cassette, and also as a poster plus download code.

Arvind Ganga is fascinated by the physical properties of the guitar and the wide range of sounds it produces when parts of it are played with objects, magnetic fields, or his bare hands: an approach he describes as the use of “incorrect techniques”. His music is raw and direct, whether abrasive or delicate, and constantly crosses the boundary between music and abstract sound.
As the opening act of tonight's concert, he presents his Three Amplifier Immersive Guitar Sound System Experience: a rudimentary yet effective multi-channel DIY setup that immerses the audience in sound coming from all directions. From sparse, crackling textures and ethereal, radiant drones to dense webs of blending, merging, and colliding sounds, he presents an intense yet joyful experience, created live on the spot, in which he explores the perception of sound and music.
