SWEETS hotel is a one-of-a-kind hotel located across Amsterdam in 28 different bridge houses – the former residences of the city’s bridge keepers who managed the boat traffic of the busy canals by opening and closing bridges. Each bridge house has been designed into a tiny one-bedroom hotel suite that accommodates two people.
In the past, Amsterdam's bridge keepers stayed in the cottages. They were responsible for opening and closing the bridges when boats needed to pass through Amsterdam's busy canals. In 2012, the initiators of SWEETS hotel presented a plan to the Municipality of Amsterdam to transform the bridge keeper's cottages into mini hotel suites. The vision: to show tourists new neighborhoods and let them experience unexpected things in Amsterdam.

Some bridge keeper's houses are national monuments, some are located in the middle of busy intersections, while others are situated by a lake in a quiet residential area. Hotel Suites
